Healthcare that works
At Pediatrics by Design, we are reimagining the broken healthcare system. We believe in whole person healthcare that focuses on wellness and is committed to reestablishing the direct connection between the patient and the doctor.
This is healthcare that works.
Our approach
It is becoming exceedingly difficult to get in touch with your doctor in the current model of healthcare. Doctor’s schedules are packed, same day appointments are hard to come by, and hold times on the phone can be frustratingly long.
At Pediatrics by Design, we’ve found a way to free you from those headaches.
By charging a monthly membership fee—instead of working through insurance—we are able to serve a tenth of the number of patients that other clinics do. You will be able to get same-day or next-day appointments whenever your child needs them. Your child will always see Dr. Lindsay, not a covering provider or an urgent care clinician. You will have an hour of face to face time with your doctor, not seven minutes. You can schedule an appointment online, or you can text or call Dr. Lindsay on her cell, whatever works best for you.
This is direct primary care.
In-person, text, and virtual visits
Because we are not constrained by insurance rules, we can practice medicine in a way that simplifies things. Your child has a rash? Text Dr. Lindsay a photo and we can have a quick phone conversation.
You’re struggling with your child’s behavior? We can meet virtually or by phone to discuss your child’s needs.
Wellness care takes time, and that is what we provide at Pediatrics by Design. There are no limits to how often we communicate, how long your visits are, or what billing codes are used. Our focus is on your child and their health needs.
This is old-fashioned, personalized medical care with all of the benefits of modern technology.
Transforming pediatric healthcare
Pediatrics by Design is an integrative pediatric clinic that operates under the Direct Primary Care (DPC) model. We charge a monthly membership per child, and in return you have full access to Dr. Lindsay whenever you need her. Dr. Lindsay is board certified in both pediatrics and integrative medicine, and takes a whole-child and family-centered approach to medical care. Integrative medicine uses evidence-based complementary and conventional approaches to care when trying to understand a person’s illness or condition.
Providing longer appointments with fewer patients allows for Dr. Lindsay to use her training in nutrition, mind-body medicine, herbs, and supplements, alongside conventional medical practices, in order to provide the best possible care for your child and family.
Five-year-old Dr. Lindsay, practicing her shot-giving skills
About Dr. Jessica Lindsay
Dr. Lindsay has always wanted to be a doctor. As a young girl, she believed she would grow up to be the town doctor one day. As she went through her medical training, she began to understand the innate resilience in children, the importance of family and community support, and the powerful ability of modern medicine to save children’s lives. Her training has provided her with the knowledge needed to help sick children, honor the power of vaccinations, and understand and prescribe the medications to treat a variety of conditions.
After a decade of practicing however, she realized she needed more tools in her clinical doctor bag for patients with recurrent illnesses, chronic conditions, or mystery illnesses. She also wanted to be able to offer more specific recommendations on how to stay healthy and not just what medicine to take when a child is sick. She hadn’t even had a single course in nutrition in medical school or residency! Her integrative medicine fellowship provided her with just that. She will partner with you to figure out the best ways to keep your child healthy using diet, mindfulness, solid sleep hygiene, and movement activities. When you child is ill, she can delve deep into the possible roots of the illness, and if there isn’t a known cause, she will be a steady support, a source of information, and an advocate for your child and family.
